The term “Stars” derives from a poetic expression in Chinese, where children with autism are often referred to as "children of the stars"—a metaphor highlighting their perceived distance from societal norms. “Framework of Time” points to time not only as a fluid continuum but also as a structured, institutionalized system that often runs counter to human nature. These two keywords encapsulate artist Dans Wong’s ongoing exploration of time and repetition as a lens through which to examine the tension between individual experience and social order.
Through a range of media including painting, installation, and conceptual work, Wong investigates how social systems subtly yet pervasively shape the way we live. His practice reflects the influence of Michel Foucault’s notion that power is no longer overt repression, but a network of rules, routines, and procedures that silently govern our actions.
Two installation pieces address the spatial enforcement of social order: one props a clock against a wall using a wooden stick from the front, while the other places a freestanding sign reading “No Clocks Allowed” and positions a bicycle inside the exhibition space.
In the conceptual work Exhibition Time, Wong intervenes in the gallery’s official opening hours. Instead of the standard Japanese time (1:00 PM – 7:00 PM), he recalculates time based on the gallery’s precise longitude (1:19 PM – 7:19 PM), creating a subtle dissonance that unsettles the viewer’s temporal perception.
「星々」は、自閉症の子どもが「星の子」と呼ばれることに由来し、社会との距離を象徴する言葉でもある。「時間の枠組み」は、時間が流れるものだけでなく、本能に反する制度的な規範としての時間を示している。王子文（Dans Wong）が「時間」と「反復」をテーマに制作し、個人のあり方と社会秩序との関係に対する継続的な関心が集約されている。
本展では、絵画、インスタレーション、コンセプチュアル作品など多様な表現を通じて、社会秩序が目に見えないかたちで人々の生き方にどのように浸透しているかが静かに示されている。その気づきは、彼の創作に深い痕跡を刻んでいる。ミシェル・フーコー（Michel Foucault）の言うように、権力はもはや圧迫の存在ではなく、ルールや手順、慣習から成るグリッドとして、人々の行動を静かに左右している。
二つのインスタレーション作品は、空間における規則の制約に応じて、私的な場所から公共の場までその影響の広がりを示す。一つは木の棒で時計を正面から支え壁に立てかける作品、もう一つは「時計掛け禁止」と書かれた立て看板を壁の前に置き、自分の自転車を展示空間に持ち込んだ作品である。
また、コンセプチュアル作品《展覧会時間》では、本画廊の開館時間を、日本標準時（13:00～19:00）ではなく、所在地の経度に基づいて換算した時間（13:19～19:19）に設定している。このズレによってわずかな違和感を来場者に与える。
Series of works - "Timetable":
I had autism when I was a child and was into clocks. Now, I see myself as a clock and let my autistic repetitive behaviors do the drawing while thinking about time in the world.
A timetable is an abstraction of a calendar, a notebook, a class timetable, a train timetable, etc.. Star comes from the fact that autistic children are also called star children. I repeatedly turn my hand like a compass in my own repetitive behavior, recording my life in the timetable, while painting a lot of star to create their own worldview.
作品シリーズ「時間表」：
小さい頃に自閉症をなって、時計に熱中していた。そこで、自分を時計と見なして、世の中に時間を考えながら自閉症の反復行動に任せて絵を描いている。
時間表とは、カレンダー、手帳、授業時間割表、時刻表などを抽象化して作成したものである。星は、自閉症の子供が星の子とも呼ばれていることに由来する。
自分の反復行動でコンパスのように手を繰り返し回して、時間表に暮らしを記録しながら、星を作って独自の世界観を作っていく。
